the philippines is a lovely country, plenty to see and do, great beaches, low cost accomadation, wonderful cheap fresh fruit, everything a foreigner could call a low cost paradise, no worries about heating bills here, it is only a 3rd world country in moneytry terms it has educated people who mostly love foreigners visiting, the people are happy people always have a smile for you, many different islands each with their own uniqueness, they say it is like hawaii was many years ago, so go now before it becomes over developed like many so called paradises have

Caz is right, Jordan is not.

I also think you should avoid the cities and head for the resorts or the provinces. I enjoy the provinces of Samar and Leyte and the town of Baguio. I have not been to Palawan but I have been to Boracay and it was wonderful.

Luzon is certainly not a piece of you know what. There are many beautiful places in Luzon. Manila is only one small part of the island.

Filipinos are wonderful people but they are not better than Americans. They are equals to Americans or to any other nationality.

Manila is somewhat polluted but the shopping is great.
The areas outside of the cities are clean or at least unpolluted. I am at present planning my seventh trip there. The people are generally friendly and helpful.
Your first trip will be an eye opener. Wealth and poverty live side by side. You will be amazed where some people live and breathe e.g. rubbish tips, under bridges and along railway tracks.

still living the phillipines. the phillipines is a beautiful country. lots of beautiful beaches and islands. if you plan to be here just make sure you head to the beaches not the cities.

if you decide on the cities its best to go shopping specially if you're in manila. you can also go to Northern luzon the far far provinces where almost everything is not yet touched by human civilization.

if you want the beaches go to the visayas islands or mindanao. just stay off sulu and tawi tawi where the abu sayyaf is.

the people is incredibly nice and hospitable. one of our great traits of pinoys. just beware those who wants to take advantage of you.

I've been going every year for the past 5 years, and I love it. Lots to see, and do there. People are very nice. There is a minority that dislike westerners, but they are an extreme minority, and not to be worried about.

well Manila looks like a piece of you know what, but overall it's great. Check out the Visayas area and Mindinao instead of Luzon because Luzon is a piece of you know what. But the people are great, better than Americans.
