Why cant rappers come up with their own music ?

Rap is just a reflection of urban decay and as such it uses pop culture influences to reflect it's own view of society as the rapper sees it. It's the same with electronica. Moby sampled old blues tracks for his cd Play and it was nominated for a few grammys.

Rappers don't have "bands" they have a "dj" same as house, techno, hip-hop, etc. Even some of these DJ's when they do play musical instruments like electronica artists (i.e. Moby, Orbital, Daft Punk, Chemical Borthers, etc.) will still sample and credit the original source in the liner notes.

It's just recycling something old, cleaning it up and introducing it to a new audience. Plus you'll have to remember a lot of times they do it with the original artist's blessing and sometimes the original artist will assist.

I know you'll ask so....

Mash-ups are when a group of lyrics for one song are layered over the music from another song. For example when 50 Cent's "In Da Club" is layered over "Stayin' Alive" by the Bee Gees or Bon Jovi's "Shot To The Heart" is layered over Belinda Carlisle's "heaven is a place on earth".

u are listening to the wrong kind of rap. u must be listening to the p. diddy stuff. i listen to the bay area rap. if u wanna hear good rap songs that dont come from rock songs listen to e-40 or too $hort or mistah fab or keak da sneak or mac dre. u need to stop listening to the puff daddy and new york style songs.

i love rap, but honestly, they're stupid. They smoke pot and get drunk all the time that the only thing left they can do is what other people tell them to. but not all rappers are like that, some are actually smart

some rappers do. i write my own music and then you have some song writers who have the skills to write but not to sing or rap and want their music heard

Why can't country music stars come up with their own music?
Why can't pop stars come up with their own music?
Why can't classical artists come up with their own music?
Why can't vocalists come up with their own music?
Why can't alternative genre bands come up with their own music?
Why do people insist on focusing in on one part of something, instead of opening their freaking eyes?

This is the same reason racism exists, people don't open their eyes and realize that it's all the same.
