Spanaway is a census-designated place (CDP) in Pierce County, Washington, United States. The population was 21,588 at the 2000 census. Spanaway is an unincorporated suburb of Tacoma, and is often identified together with the more urban, less wealthy Parkland.

Spanaway is located at 47°5′52″N, 122°25′26″W (47.097887, -122.424016)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 22.5 km² (8.7 mi²). 21.6 km² (8.3 mi²) of it is land and 1.0 km² (0.4 mi²) of it (4.25%) is water.
