Remove battery power. Remove all the under dash panels so you can access the column and all her wiring connections. Remove the u-joint type connection bolt to the rack at the base of the column which is usually close to a big clear rubber cover. Remove the four bolts that hold the wiring cover to the column support. Now remove the two upper, could only be one here, column attach bolts to the dash frame at the inner part of the column. These are usually hard to get to as they are higher up than the others. Remove the two main column support bolts from underneath the column keeping your head out of the way. Jiggle and wiggle the column out of the u-joint at the base. Good luck.

After being in the business for 35 years, as a GM tech, the first question I have to your question is WHY?
I never have.
To answer your question:
Disconnect all the wiring connectors, unbolt the bottom of the column from the top of the steering gear (its a slip collar), unbolt the column from the bolster (2 15mm headed nuts) on the dash and lift it out.
But then again, WHY?
