You can't stop the growth without laser treatment. Just shave it as it comes in!

There are various methods of hair removal:
1. Waxing - you say you can't afford it but you can buy kits at Boots and other chemists which are fairly cheap and work quite well - instead of going to a professional or something.
2. Shaving - a rash can occur as this is also the place where your knicker line will rub. Go gently, with a new razor, and also bear in mine it might be your shaving gel that is causing the reaction.
3. Hair removal cream - make sure you buy the kind that is specifically meant for bikini areas because otherwise it can irritate the skin there (which as you've discovered is sensitive)
4. Laser/electrolysis/zap razors/other permanent method - this is useful but tends to be more expensive than waxing apart from the zap razors that someone else has mentioned above... the problem with them is that you do it yourself... and it's bad if you make a mistake because it's permanent.
That's pretty much it... apart from plucking which will irritate the skin and HURTS a LOT. So I wouldn't recommend that one. Personally I shave, but I'm sure you'll find what's best for you :) Hope this helps!

skip the nair, it doesnt work. no matter how long you leave it on. try shaving with the grain not against it. thats probably why your getting a rash. if you cant afford salon waxing. try a bikini waxing of brazilian wax at home kit. you can pick 1 up at your local walmart. they are easy to use strips. it helps if you have someone who can help you. its a little tricky to do on your own. or prop a mirror up so you can see. either or. the money you spend on shaving gel will cover the cost of the kits plus waxing lasts longer then shaving. you need to let your hair grow to about 1/4 inch before you can wax. so if you plan on doing that dont shave for a few days.

Regular exfoliation and tea tree oil/lotion will help the rash if you continue to shave, make sure you use a razor for women and keep the blades sharp.
Best advice is to get waxed it lasts a lot longer so it's actually much cheaper bearing in mind the cost of decent quality razors and shaving gel. It doesn't even hurt that much and I get a monthly hollywood so I should know, it leaves you oh so smooth!!!

Generally, the more you shave, the faster it comes back. It will sometimes get darker and thicker as the years go by. If you are getting a rash, try a sharper(new) razor, that helps a lot. Also, there are several pre-shave treatments you can use to make the hair stand-up more to keep the blade away from your skin.

Maybe your blades are too damaged.

If you are using a disposable razor, how many shaves do you try and get out of it? Most people use their disposable razors *WAY* too many times.

The average razor probably only gives you about 4 or 5 good shaves. (eg. both legs, four or five times) After that it starts getting very 'rough' and starts scratching your skin to hell (even though it still 'appears' to be cutting the hair). This causes a lot of irritation for some people...

ok so from a voice of experience i shave my bikini area and i always use shampoo not gel, i know what youre thinking but seriously try ti before you mock me the shampoo relaxes the hair and the hairs folicles so that when you shave it the hairs not cut off lower then skin level and less irritation.

The single most important thing to remember about shaving, is to drag the razor in a downward motion across your skin. That helps to keep you from getting cut, bumps and all manner of razor irritation.

Peace!

Use the seiko cleancut pubic shaver, it leaves my wife baby smooth and no rashes, it doesn't scrape the skin like normal shaving does, the blade is protected and never contacts the skin. You don't need gel either, just use talc powder.

ur hair doesnt get thicker the more u shave if it did we would have as much hair on our legs as our heads. just pluck them. use M.A.C shave creme it minimises redness, use a clean new razor always and u wont get rash. exfoliate the area every day to stop ingrown hairs.
