I am 17 weeks, I know it's normal for my stomach to be soft, (it's hard after I eat), but i feel pressure on the bottom of my abdomen sometimes. What is that? I can't get to my doctor for another couple weeks. This is my first pregnancy. I just want to make sure it's not a miscarriage.

You should be well beyond the risk of miscarriage, especially since you've undoubtedly seen and heard the heartbeat. Call your ob/gyn for reassurance, but it's most likely just stretching and weight gain. Every little twinge is scary during pregnancy and the whole area twinges a lot!

The ligaments and muscles of your abdomen and uterus are beginning to stretch. Sometimes this can actually cause a bit of discomfort.

You should be having your first ultrasound soon (usually around 20 weeks or so), which ought to calm your nerves and answer many of your questions. You are past the normal miscarriage stage, and though it is still possible, it is unlikely. One of the first signs of a miscarriage is bleeding. If you are bleeding, you should see your doctor immediately.

A stillborn generally refers to a baby that has been carried to full term but for various reasons died right before delivery. Sometimes this happens to women a few weeks before the baby is due.

Most likely you are doing just fine, but if you are truly uncertain, call your doctor and ask some questions. You should see your doctor soon anyway.

A little pressure is a normal symptom at your stage of pregnancy, as long as it is not accompanied by bleeding. In a few weeks, you will be able to feel the baby move regularly, and that will be a huge relief - then you will be able to gauge the baby's activity and have reassurance every so often when you feel movement.
Of course, miscarriages and stillborns can happen at any stage (and I know from experience) but your chances at this point for either are low.

I agree with everyone about what's normal for this stage in your pregnancy but, your doctor would see you immediately if you called him and complained of miscarriage like symptoms. I sprained all the ligaments in my stomach two weeks ago at my 22 week and they brought me in to make sure it was just the ligament pain I was feeling and not because of a miscarriage. Good Luck and remember you can always call your doctor or the ER. They will not refuse to see you if you are worried. I have gone to my doctor's twice without an appointment, once because of the ligaments and another to make sure I didn't have Urinary tract infection. They will squeeze you in. Good Luck.

You would know if it were a miscarriage, cramping, pulling, aching are all signs of a normal pregnancy..your uterus is growing to accomodate your growing baby so u are going to have these pains and cramps a lot and more often...If it were a miscarriage u would have very very heavy bleeding, passing of tissue and clots and excruciating pain! Just relax and stay calm, your baby is fine within your womb..Good Luck and congrats on the baby!

Stillborn means you actually give birth and the baby is already dead. A miscarriage is when you loose the baby.

It is normal, ligaments and uterus stretching, if you were miscarrying at 17 weeks there would be very bad cramps, in your back as well, and there would be bleeding.
