R. Kelly's first solo album was entitled "12 Play", released in 1993. His first record released with a group that went by the name "Public Announcement" was released in 1992 and titled "Born Into the 90's". Earlier than that, in 1989, R. Kelly released the single "Why You Wanna Play With Me", with his then group "MGM", which he founded. Hope this helps.
