Do any parents wear hollister, american eagle, and Abercrombie & Fitch? My daughter and I wear items from these stores. Other parents say I am a bad mother and I am not a good dress model for my child. Am I really a bad parent? Do other Parents wear any garments from these stores?

I believe that it doesn't matter where you get clothes as long as it's fitting to your personality, style, and it's not vulgar. Some of the things from those stores are innapropriate for any age, but lots of it isn't. I'm very against the idea of parents wearing hipsters, most graphic T's (they just don't look right on a lot of older people), and there are other things that parents, or anybody who is older, shouldn't wear. End of that discussion!

I have seen women in their forties to sixties who wear shirts that show endless skin, pants that are several inches below the belly button, they have short, gelled hair, and it's sickening.

But women this age should never neglect themselves and just let whatever go. They should never be in the "might as well spend the money on the kids, I'll just go to Sears and get a ten buck pair of jeans that are almost up to my shoulders and are much worse than highwaters" mentality. They should dress maturely, sometimes elegantly, and flaunt the beauty that women never lose. There are many great books on that subject, but two of the best are What You Wear Can Change Your Life by Trinny and Susanna, and Color Me Confident by Veronique Henderson and Pat Henshaw. Both of these books are excellent guidelines for anybody.

I doubt you dress like the sickening description I gave, and I think that as long as it's not too tight, small, or suggestive, the clothes from Holliter, AE, and Abercrombie are fine for anybody who is younger than sixty.

I'm a mother of a 2 1/2 year old and I wear clothes from Hollister, American Eagle, Abercrombie, Old Navy and all those other stores. I present myself well and I dont dress trashy so if someone has something to say about my parenting, its about my parenting, not the way I dress. If you want to wear those clothes, then go ahead. I think a "bad dress model" would be someone who dresses trashy, not trendy.

I shop at these stores for myself as well and I am a parent of 3. IT does not make you a bad parent but it all depends on how you are wearing them Now if youare trying to dress like the teens than you shold not be dressing like that but if you are dressing conservative than that is fine. You can still shop in the hip stores as long as you remember how old you are.It also depends on how old you are to begin with. If you are a mother in her 20's fine but if you are older and in your 30's remember to cover most everything up it's ok to show a lil clevage but not your ***.
and for gods sake make sure you pick up some undies too.(Just a lil Brittany Spears humor)

No, not at all. A lot of mothers wear them, that doesn't mean anything. A good thing is you can still give each other fashion advice. But you can still draw the line at some things. Dont listen to the other parents, i mean seriously at least your probably spending time and learning things with your daughter, while the other parents probably just know that they couldn't pull it off.

Hmm, I've seen mothers wear clothes/brands their daughters are wearing and it honestly looks like the mother is just trying to "fit in" or be her daughters best friend. Some people don't approve, so thats probably why you hear"bad mother" etc.
ps)this is answered in a thoughtful way, not a condemning way.

I know moms who wear American Eagle and Hollister. But, I don't think you're a bad mom.

No one has ever told you you're a "bad dress model".
And no. People above the age of 14 don't wear Hollister or Abercrombie.
American Eagle is okay I suppose.

P.s. It's blatantly obvious that YOU ARE the daughter, posing as your own mother.

I'm with Lucas on this. I had asked a ? like this before because I have friends that are in their 30's that are wearing this-but I guess it's cooler to wear this than dress old fashioned. I think it's clothing that we grew up with and yes, alot of it is for teens but they are starting to market towards mid 20's and up.
