Cut your food portions in half. Do not use soda’s nor diet soda’s Saves you money and is good for your health. Replace soda's for water. Avoid sugar as every bacteria virus or yeast loves to grow in a sugar (acid ) related environment. In the meantime enjoy now…frugal or not. There is nothing you can take with you after you die. P

Go out to eat less, take your lunch to work/school. Skip the morning/afternoon/evening Starbucks trip. Only buy things if you have the cash to pay for it. If you dont have cash, dont buy. A lot of times you will see that waiting until you have the cash will change your view of the item, instead of just using a credit card.

And its good to be frugal. Think about investing your money and being able to leave a better life for your kids. Wouldnt you have liked that if your parents had done it? I know I would have! Check out Dave Ramsey, he has some good ideas.

I agree with Todd, most of these tips are chump change compared to the ways people throw their money away.

I was brought up by very frugal parents. They had this weird way of looking at things - if you cannot afford it do not buy it. No credit cards, no car loans, no store credit payment plans. Maybe a home mortgage is different. You get tax breaks on the interest and maybe the home will increase in value over time.

Get out a calculator and determine how much you pay in interest on credit cards, car loans, the second mortgage you used to refi the credit card balances and buy a car etc. etc.

How do banks, finance companies and credit card companies earn their profits? By lending money and collecting interest.

Forget about dryer sheets. If you want to save serious money try the following:

If you've got credit card debt and you're currently paying finance charges, do a balance transfer and move that debt to a 0% APR credit card. Make sure you're use a credit card with no transfer balance fee such as Amex or Citi.

If you're paying credit card finance charges, you're throwing money away needlessly.

Whenever I want to save more, the first thing I give up is going out for lunch. I found that I can easily save a couple hundred dollars every month doing that.

My best tip is don't be frugal, just find other ways of increasing your income without lowering your acceptable livign standards. Life is all about enjoyment, if you are frugal, how are you going to enjoy it?

I'll give you something to think about....Howards Hughes, the billionaire and my grandma both died with the same status. H. Hughes died and left all those billions of assets, my grandma died and also left it all. My point is, if you're frugal, you'll still die and leave it all. Might as well enjoy it.

No more eating out. Take your lunch with you to work. It's saving my hubby and I a TON every month just by cooking at home. It's healthier too....

I also recommend Dave Ramsey (www.daveramsey.com)... He is all about "acting your wage"...
