Not to mention that if a judge can over rule a juries decision (which they do a lot of times) - what is the sense. A lot of people just lie anyways to get on a jury.
Away with them!

Many countries in Europe do not use juries. A panel of judges make the decisions. Works there. The idea that local people best know the person on trial and therefore can make a better judgment is patently false. First, lawyers throw off anyone from the jury pool who knows the person or anything about the case. Second, do you want someone who is too dumb to get out of jury duty determining you innocence or guilt?

Hell yeah, drive down the cost of bribes, since the judges are too overworked, every case is a bonus. Insurance companies would love that, screw the poor victims. Certainly reinforce the rich get away with murder by paying for not guilty verdicts. End the lawyer profession with one swift stroke of the pen. Sounds great, if you never have a court issue or injustice in your life.

No. Better to be judged by twelve than carried by six.

Good point. Then again, if you really did it, that kind of people, with an enlightening speech from your lawyer, will let you get away with it.
