I've been playing violin for four years and would like to get a new 4/4 size one. I'd like to know which brand is best for a rich, brilliant and amazing sound (price does not matter). I'm going to use Evah Pirazzi strings on it. Any ideas?

Well, first, you should never pick a violin by how good it looks (as you probably know.) You just have to close your eyes and listen to the tone. But good violins have something called "flames" or "tiger stripes." They are just what the sound like. Look on the back, sides, and scroll. There should be stripes on them. I have a violin from Romania and it has a beautiful sound. Also, you will want to look at the type of wood it is made out of. A maple wood bridge is good. You will also want to look at the fingerboard. Most of them are regular wood painted black. This indicates that the violin is cheap. My violin is an intermediate violin and it cost about $500. In a bow, you will want real horse hair. Not fiberglass. I hope this helps! Happy playing!

Try to find a 1793 Antonius Strativarius. My cousin has one that he will not sell for half a million dollars. They (this one anyway) has all of the qualities you require. Happy hunting.
