Basketball comparisons?

Today me and my friend was talking about the NBA. My friend thinks he's an expert becaus he watched 1 show yesterrday about old school players such as MAgic, Bird, Dr. J, Jerry west, ect. (this kid doesn't even know who Dennis Rodman is) HE said the best clutch player of all time is Jerry West, but I argued it was Reggie Miller. Then he went on to say Bird was better than Magic JOhnson. Magic is one of my favorite players so I defended him. I want to know who you gys think is the better clutch player and who is beter out of Bird-Magic

Even if Rodman is overated, he's tellin me about the old school and the only player he has heard of from the Bulls is MJ, he diesn't even know Pippen

out of bird and magic i have to take magic johnson because he played all the positions. bird is the best white player ever. he could score and "D" any body up. but magic can not only play PG but he is also a killer Center.

Its pretty hard to argue against Reggie Miller being one of the best clutch shooters ever. However, with the game on the line, the one person I'd want to have the ball would be Larry Bird.

Not only could he shoot the lights out, he's also smart enough to dish it off if he's double or triple teamed (as he was most of the time).

That being said, I'd also give Bird the slight edge over Magic, although both were in the top five players ever.

Bird was the focal point on the Celtics from day one, while Kareem was the main scoring threat for the first 5-6 years of Magic's career.

Even though Magic won more championships, head to head Bird was the better individual player.


BTW...not knowing who Dennis Rodman was is no big deal. He was just an overrated, obnoxious hot dog anyways.

The best clutch player of all times was Reggie Miller. But lets not talk about the past. The best clutch player right now is Mr Gilbert Arenas.I know he missed two free throws last year againts cleveland but he is more than making up for it now.He went on a barage of threes the other night againts Utah and hit the game winning three,again. He is definitely one of the best right now. As it pertains to Magic and Bird I think magic has a slight advantage over Larry. I dont think we should say that Bird was the best white player, he is one of the best players of all time

I've never seen Jerry West play (except for a few clips), but the consensus of people/"experts" who have seen both play, is that Jerry West was the best clutch shooter of all time. There is a reason why Mr. Clutch is the NBA logo.
Magic is the better player, no question.

They don't call Jerry West "Mr Clutch" for no reason. So I think your friend is right on that one.
But head to head Bird only one once against Magic but as far as championships go Magic won 5 and Bird won 3 so you are right about Magic Johnson

i gotta say that reggie miller is the better clutch player, he got like 8 points in 13 seconds or something thats a true example of clutch

between magic johnson and bird magic was probably the better player. he could do it all and keep the crowd entertained. magic was a much better passer than bird and could probably match up with bird in terms of shooting
