And lazy, yes. Rather along the lines of guys, who see another man pulling out a chair or openind a door for a lady, who then complain that those men are making them look bad.

Nope. Cause it was. Valentine's Day is not romantic. Ever heard of the St Valentine's Day Massacre? I'm sure it makes lovely conversation during one of those candlelit dinners.
It's an excuse for greeting card companies to exploit the poor saps who feel that their only way of showing their feelings is by buying a bunch of crap. I've always told my boyfriend that I don't need gifts or anything like that, I just want him to spend time with me. You can't hug a card of a bunch of flowers... or you can and look like an idiot doing it.

Seeee, not romantic: http://www.mysterynet.com/vdaymassacre/

I don't like Valentine's Day and all of those card they come out with for that holiday. All of those card companies just want to get money so they will just make cards for holidays just so they can get more money.

I dont think it was made up by the card companies, more like commercial stores in general. If there was no holiday in that 2 month period they'd have no increase in sales. Frankly Im surprised they havent made a few more the summer months - profits could be even higher.

Actually it's kinda true! To show your love you don't need to buy someone expensive gifts. I like how they did it where I lived in Spain the girl gets a flower and the guy gets a book! Simple but shows your love!

Why do you assume that the GUY is cheap? Isn't valentines day for both? Or is it just "gimme a gift day" for women?

no there not cheap just knowledgeable

even if they say that doesnt mean that they aren't' going to honor Valentines day traditions

your just being to analytic and presumptuous

BUT YOU KNOW WHAT IS CHEAP/SAD.. THAT I WAGER TO BET THAT WOMEN ON HERE LIKE V DAY BECAUSE IT MEANS THEY GET SPOILED WITH GIFTS AND IT JUST A SELFISH HOLIDAY FOR WOMEN KIND

Yes I think they are not only cheap but unimaginative and lazy as well. However with a truly romantic man everyday is Valentine's day and he doesn't need a designated day to make his beloved feel special.
