I answered a question recently, about what I was listening to
at that particular time. (the questioner didn't only mean music).

Although I like a wide range of music, I was the only person who stated a classical composition.

Are there any other people who like that kind of music and which is your favourite piece?

Hi radianca,
Yes I do that, you get a jolly good selection of music don't you. That way you can go out and buy the Cd if you really like it.

Thank you for answering my question.

Ciao, trout,
Make sure your little girl chooses a light weight musical instrument to play. I chose the cello!
Let us know if she becomes famous.

Thank you for answering.

Yes, I love classical. When I was between 5th and 8th grade, it was just about the only thing I'd listen to.
My favorite pieces (not in any particular order):

Lincolnshire Posy by Percy Grainger (for your Brits/Aussies out there)

Saint-Saens' Symph. No. 3 "Organ" (My favorite of all time; played it twice.)

Carmina Burana -- Orff (Played it; saw it performed with two pianos, percussion, dance troupe and chorus -- knocked my socks off)

Philip Glass -- "Heroes" Symphony; Symphony No. 5

I am a musician. I have played popular music for over 35 years now...but my Mother was a classical pianist and so I grew up with classical music and still love it as much as any of my modern music.

Favourite piece?...not possible really...but Dvorak's New World Symphony should be the American national anthem as far as I am concerned...it is inspiring. I am a Brit by the way.

Debussy's Girl With The Flaxen Hair is young love in any sense...

I love Eine Kleine Nachtmusik because the London Mozart Players once gave me a private rendition when I was working in a theatre that they were rehearsing in...I felt like a king!

So many...and so many more to come...enjoy your music my friend!

EDIT:

Well done predendos...a lovely selection. My respects for your inclusion of dear old Percy Grainger. He is dear to our hearts here in 'old blighty'.

Sure classical is great. 2nd movement from symphony no. 7 by Beethoven is a goody... and the overture to the magic flute by Mozart.. and the barber of seville by Rossini

and of course beethoven's symphony no. 9.. mm mmm mmm!

Still prefer Metallica though.. just a bit... at least with classical I can get some work done.

Edit: glad to hear it!

Pelleas et Melisande, Op.80: 4.Sicilienne by Claude Debussy is one of my favourite pieces of music, though I wouldn't normally listen to classical.
I like some other classical but I wouldn't know the names.

I like a contempory classical piece called "They Hung Their Harps in the Willows". I also love to hear over and over again "The Flower Duet" (more of an opera song though).
