Do you think it is rude, honest, for publicity, or something else of him of the type of attitude and/or "advice" he gives to contestants?

I noticed from past seasons that Simon rarely gives constructive criticisms or any clue to the contestant as to what they did wrong or how to improve.

Since he so often (when the top 12 are there) agrees with the audience and other judges if someone is good (unless they are his pet), I would say he likes the negative attention he gets from it.

Of course, it s often rude and the producers encourage it and tell him who to criticize at times and tell the guests to hype up their reaction. so says people who have been on the show and article I read.

To be mean on someones appearance especially if they are a minor or have physical or mental disabilities like Kenneth Briggs id (bush baby) is totally unacceptable. Kenneth has aarskog syndrome which causes his facial abnormalities and short stature.

You know... for the most part I think he's just being honest. Some of these people really need to hear that they can't sing well. That doesn't mean they can't take lessons and get better or still enjoy singing... they just won't ever be famous singers. But last night he totally just rubbed me the wrong way when he told that guy he looked like a jungle creature with the big eyes. That guy can not help his features and I think it was absolutly wrong of Simon to make fun of him and laugh at him like that. It's just the same as bullying in school, picking on the little guy. I won't watch him now.

Simon is brutally honest and most of the time right on target. Yes he gets rude and crosses the line but can you imagine the torture of sitting through those auditions? Oh - My - God!! I'd be pretty pissy after another idiot in a stupid costume got up there and screamed through a few bars of a song! I don't know what is wrong with those people! Desperate to be on TV or what? Public humiliation by your own choice is a strange way to get your jollies!

Simon is a little rough around the edges but more times then not his advice is on target. He is a record producer and he is very knowledgable to what will and what will not sell. It amazes me some of the so called singers who try out and get offended when they are told that they can not sing.

I think he's being brutally honest with the contestants. He pretty much tells it like it is. What surprised me was Randy was being really rude to some of the contestants as well.

He's an ****** most of the time from what I've seen. There's criticism then there constructive criticism - he seems to utter the former mostly. Being nasty brings in ratings but it doesn't help the poor b@stards being humiliated on the show.

The show is a poor excuse for entertainment and that's being nice about it.

I think he is brutally honest. Sometimes it may seem harsh but some of those people have no right to try out for the show. Mind you, if they didn't, the show would be much more boring and not as entertaining.

He's a huge egomaniac. He doesn't understand America, so I don't know why he's on American Idol. Luckily, Randy and Paula outnumber him. I don't put any value to a thing he says. Some of his comments about people's appearances have bordered on abuse.

SOMETIMES I THINK HE'S JUST DOWN RIGHT AN A**, BUT OTHER TIMES HE'S JUST BEING BRUTALY HONOST. I THINK HE REALLY GETS TIRED OF PEOPLE COMING ON THERE AS A JOKE. HE TAKES JUDGING SERIOUSLY. HE GOES STRAIGHT TO THE MATTER, CAN YOU SING WELL GOOD ENOUGH TO BE AN AMERICAN IDOL. ALTHOUGH, THERE ARE PLENTY OF SINGERS OUT THERE ALREADY WHO HAVE BEEN IDOLIZED WHO CANNOT SING. JOHNNY CASH, WILLIE NELSON,BOB DILLON, BUT THEY ARE GOOD AT STORY TELLING OR JUST HAVE A PRESENCE ABOUT THEM.

I got very upset when simon said that that one guy looked like a jungle animal because of his eyes. simon cowell should judge people's singing ability. for television, sure he can judge their makeup, hair, clothes, or things that have desicions to deal with, but your physical appearance isn't your falt.

Sooooo, in my opinion, simon should stick to critisizing singing, and not someone's appearance.
