what are you writing your research paper about? In a broad sense, it is always safer to go to places that don't end in .com... Usually .org, .edu are safer and more reliable sources. Give me an idea of topic and I can be more specific!

Reputable news sources are good also (such as cnn msn fox or newspapers like NYtimes USA Today etc) Also local papers or any AP stories are good.

For some stuff PBS can have some great info, also the History Channel can have useful links as well. If you are at a university they probably have an online catelogue full of stuff. Actually your local librabry probably has some good articles online as well.

What's your topic? You can start with a broad search like Google, Yahoo, Wikipedia, Reference.com.
