Adrian-it's the same in Spanish and English and can be for either female or male. Arianna for a girl. Julian for a girl or boy. :) Congrats Grandpa! My children are mixed and my son's name is Tyler Austin...with a very non hispanic last name. So they should feel free to name the baby whatever they want to-hispanic sounding or not. Hope this helps. :)

I have a beautiful friend named ILIANA which I think is very pretty for a mexican american name. (pronounced il ee on a) Both the named mentioned are too cute though, and Alexander can be called Alex. Both can be pronounced the amercian way. I also have a friend who named her son Matteo, which has turned out to be really cute, and she calls Matt most of the time.

Sounds like she is already on the right path, many names are pronounced differently in different cultures. Like my son Vincent is called Vincie by my Italian husband's family, and his cousin is married to a Mexican man and has a son named Alexander, and her husband George isn't pronouced the American way. LOL, as long as the child gets a name that is close to main stream for sucess in the career force I wouldn't worry too much. The child needs to be able to spell it when they start school and say it when people ask.

Alejandro is Spanish for Alexander. Many English names have equivalent Spanish names.

Isabella, Lizette (yes, it IS Hispanic), Sophia, Anna, Elisabeth, Maritza........... gosh, there are so many! All sound much better though, with the Spanish pronunciation.

Both of these names are great.I love the spelling of Elisabeth. With an "s".Why not call
him Alexander and let his mexican Abuelita call him Alejandro.Don't stress. Enjoy that little one
and teach him love and respect for life.
Congratulations!
