Well the fact you're progessively getting better, making more income, making friends, learning skills, buying things, and choosing your occupation make it feel like real life.

For someone like myself who has never played WOW (but would like to in the future) Its the sence of community that its not static per see its everlasting its appeal is endless especially when you team up with friends in real life or meet new people. Its the joy, sure the game itself matters but its also the people that have you coming back.

What makes this more fun then a normal game is that your showing off your status and your "hardcoreness" not just to the friends you have in real life but the millions that are playing. It rises the competitive level drastically. Thats what I would say makes it so fun the sence of "Competition" and its not just against one but all the people in your group.

Plus theres always new tasks and whatnot to do, So really if all your rl friends are playing it how could you resists (Unless you dont want to pay the monthly fee)

Me personally I dont play it but I have been part of a few good sites and the addiction factor really kicked in.
