I'm pregnant in another country and even though I'm told the healthcare here is excellent, I still feel out of my comfort zone, wonder if the care I will receive is as good as what I would get in Canada, and completely sympathize with what you must be feeling. I'm sure that things will work out. The hospital I am giving birth in was recognized by the WHO as a baby friendly hospital. Can you find out the standards at the hospital you will be giving birth at? If you don't feel comfortable with the possible care, could you find/get to a larger/better hospital? How far could you travel to find a facility you would feel more comfortable in? I would suggest finding out as much as possible about where you will be giving birth... you may just find that the facility is more than adequate. I wish there was more info/help I could give to reassure you. I'm sure things will work out just fine. All the best.

Weather its your country or not, women give birth everywhere. Romanians probably do as well. So their doctors should be experienced enough. If you are worrying about being alone, then try to pick a good hospital. One that offers post pregnancy (exercise) classes for mother and child where you can meet other new moms for support. Dont stress to much, once your baby arrives, itll fill your world and all you'll want to do is take care of it. It will keep you too busy to worry about anything but getting time to sleep. Congratulations.

Cant you at least get to a big town and a really good hospital without going on an airplane? I would get to the largest hospital I can find. Even if it means going to London or Paris!!! I worry about what kind of care you are going to get in a small town in Romania.

Lie down on your left side to help reduce your blood pressure and contractions if you are having any. This was recommended to me by my OB and worked well both times I was pregnant-I went to term. Take care of yourself and your baby, and good luck!
