A vast majority of the media got their schooling in the 1970's when socialism rasied its ugly head. Liberalism is socialism. Liberals believe they can take care of you better than you.

Is Rupert Murdoch a liberal? If the media is so dominated by the liberals how come they couldn't influence the public in the following elections in which the conservative candidates won:
- Nixon vs. McGovern 1972
- Reagan vs, Carter 1980
-Reagan vs. Mondale 1984
-GHW Bush vs. Dukakis 1988
-The mid-term election of 1994 when Republicans become the majority party in Congress
-GW Bush vs. Gore in 2000
-GW Bush vs. Kerry in 2004
If the media which, according to you, is so dominated by the liberals, couldn't influence the public in anyway during those important national elections; then the real answer must be either one of the two:
1. It's not dominated by liberals as some people have been saying; especially when the media report the facts that may be damaging to their favorite politicians/clergymen.
2. It is in fact dominated by the liberals but their reporting has created no biases in the American people's opinions and decisions. That again means two things: Either they are impartial in their reporting or that every time they've been biased, the American people could see right through it and voted conservatives anyway.
No matter how one slices it, the charges that the media is dominated by liberals is either false or inconsequential to our political discourse.

I'm not so sure if this is the case. One of the previous answers has given examples of Republicans getting elected while the media you claim is "liberal."
Even if the media were controlled by liberals, they have to pander not to just its base but to the middle of the road and conservatives, or else they DIE in the ratings. Also, it looks the "liberal" media have hired conservatives to work for it.
1. John Stossel (conservative in fiscal issues)--host of ABC's 20/20
2. Joe Scarborough--host of MSNBC's Scarborough Country and former Florida Republican congressman
3. Tucker Carlson--host of MSNBC's Tucker and former conservative co-host of CNN's Crossfire
As a matter of fact, Media Matters for America, a media watchdog group that fights against "conservative misinformation," has attacked NBC, CBS, Fox News, and others for what they think is conservative bias.
My advice for conservatives is stop complaining and be more like the not-so-popular Donald Rumsfeld who gave more press conferences as Defense Secretary than his predecessors. Be more like Rupert Murdoch. Make more campaigns. More communication to the people is the KEY.

I have to agree with Tim - the more education you have - the more likely you are to research issues and to be able to look at all sides. It does tend to make you more liberal. You are wrong though to think the media is controlled by liberals. Do some research and you will find that almost all media - print and broadcast is owned by conservative conglomerates and headed by major donors to the Republican party.

No one has stopped it. When Edward R Murrow was around in I believe the 1950's, he was the first editorial journalist. He would put his opinion and spin on the news. Then there was Vietnam, where the government allowed the media to root against this country. Fast forward to today and you have the NY Times publishing leaked classified information on 4 occasions. Has there been any arrests? No. The ACLU has sued in the activist courts to basically allow unlimited freedom of the press.

It takes a lot of education to get to the point where you are making decisions in the media. Education tends to make people more liberal.

They own the newspapers and networks. They are closely tied to the Media who is also Liberal. The education system is very LIberal. They feel the enlightened should be world ambassadors and protect the planet. Talk radio is more right winged because most Americans are conservative therefore there is a large audience. Fox news is number one for the same reasons.

the reason you say it's "liberal" is because it says what the government is doing wrong... and the Bush is the president...
oh boo hoo....
sorry I don't want a media that is basically state run, like the soviet system or chinese system, where you can't say anything wrong about the government...
I mean seriously... what are the odds that almost every station is liberally bias... the odds are extremely slim that what you are saying is reality...

Yes, because Fox News is liberal, all of talk radio is liberal right?
Most media coverage is moderate, "liberal media bias" is a sham made up by the far-right because most in the TV media (and the American public in general) don't agree with their views.

Because it is the liberals who are professors at all the major universities, and the editors of all the major media outlets, and they are putting out well-indoctrinated journalists.
