YESTERDAY I WROTE: My doc swiped my membranes at 11am. I'm feeling lower back pains and now uppper back pains, and more pressure down there. I'm 40 weeks, 3 cm dilated and 50% efaced, my due date is 1/19/07 (this friday). I've had a few contractions about 8 mins apart. As of 11:48 am Thursday morning NOTHING. I did spend all night with sharp pains and even some pains running down my hips with additional pressure down there but not enough to go to the hospital. I called the doc and she said to wait till contractions are full blown (5 mins apart). She said it could still be another 48 hours till I'm ready to come in.

you still not had it!!!!!
OK try keeping active, walking ,climbing stairs etc. also (OK try not to laugh) try squatting on the toilet and rocking it may help the babies head come down onto the cervix which in theory should help speed up the dilation. this is what my midwife made me do when my labour slowed down.
it is so frustrating knowing you are so close but baby will come in the end promise!!!

Really nothing to do but wait! I know how hard that is...I have 5 kids and had that done to me 3 times..The first time sent me straight into labor the second time took about 24 hours for labor to begin and the last time didn't work!! I still had to be induced...Hang in there!!

She's right, Vee. I assume you are a primapara(your first baby). It is not uncommon for you to go over your dates w/ your first pregnancy. Walking will help move things along--asuming you don't have any thing going on that would prevent you from walking(high blood pressure or excessive swelling of your feet).

Best Wishes!

Exactly, she scraped the membranes; now you have to wait. The process isn't an exact one, and you'll probably be in the hospital by early morning. Sleep & rest now, you won't get any at the hospital.

Nothing to do but wait. Try walking and having sex. Also nipple stimulation can cause contractions.

Good luck!!
