Even with it being so new it could be a hardware problem. However more likely you have a virus or spyware. Download a anti-virus program from the computer you are using now and put it on a disk. Also get spybot and adaware.

Download, update and run Spybot---http://www.safer-networking.org/ . Don't forget to use the Immunize feature.

Download, update and run Adaware---http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/products/select_your_product.php

None of this will help if you can not get it to boot. Try going into Safe Mode.

Turn it on and immediately push F8 repeatedly until you get the next screen. Once in safe mode put in the disk with the programs on it and try to run them.

simple case to fix you pc needs windows re-installing and all the additional software in the world will not make it work any better. I Sugest that if you have files that are important you take the drive out of that machine set it as a slave via the jumpers and install it into the older pc you used here. When you turn the system back on you should be showing the additional hard drive on my computer. if not go into computer management in administratot tools in control panel and assigne a drive letter. (DO NOT FORMAT YET) Copy any files you require from you new hard drive to your old pc then format the drive while plugged in. Set it back to master and pop it back in your new machine with you windows disc in and start a new install. Trust me its better in the long run.

Is it a Dell Optiplex GX2xx ? If so, open the cover and check the capicitors next to the heatsink. If they seem to be slightly bulging (not flat on top) then call it in to have it replaced. Common problem.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
