For the people who have to see something on tv first - explanation: possibility of 'blasphemy power stations', where blasphemy is used to provoke lightning from gods.
This question was removed because it wasn't understood. What about this time?

If it is DC lightning, the current would reduce as the charge in the earth builds up. So unless we discharged to the moon, and then Mars and Venus, the power would fail. And when we do discharge, where will it go from - skyscrapers? Would the gods switch to AC power?

If AC, what shape would the wave be - sine, square, shepherd's crook?

randombushmonkey - using the power would mean connecting a complete circuit. It has to have a return path if it is a current. I thought AC would work if it was a very high voltage charge, but not DC.

We could create a high voltage DC to AC converter I suppose, but I think the real problem may lie in regulating the voltage, unless the Gods discharge a steady high voltage.

You can isolate the charge from the Earth so when the power is finally distributed into homes you will still get the correct voltage and the current would not be reduced. What a great renewable energy resource, of course some people would go to hell but...

Somehow I doubt if the people who'd come up with such an idea have any notion about the physics involved.

No, the lightning would come form any god(s) being basphenmed - assuming that they actually have a physical location.

The 'power stations' wouldn't work -

don't you know that GOD has NOTHING to do with Science ???

Plainly Lightning aimed at Blasphemers has no substance in physical reality - only the blasphemer would perceive and be effected by GOD's lightning.
