Karma is like saying "what comes around goes around" the bad things that you do to others will some day come back to haunt you....that's karma. Karma can kick you in the ***. Karma can also be a good thing. Karma can treat you good by: If you've had a hard time, and always done good for others, other got treated badly by someone, Karma will come get you some day....in a good, meaning someday things will go good for you or something good will happen to you, after all the bad. Everyone needs balance. Karma is the balance of life.

I'm actually majoring in philosopher and we were talking about Indian Philosophers. Karma means:The universal law of causes and effect as applied to the actions (good or bad) of people. The effect of an action may take more than one lifetime to come about, trying the person to Samsara. Only actions free of desire and delusion are not affected by Karma.

I took this straight from my notes.

karma is the formalization of the thought that everything you do comes back to you for better or worse. You reap what you sow etc. Its a nice thought and sometimes DOES come true, but unfortunately often times does not. Possibly you can extend karma to the next life.
