For the same reason guys say they slept with a girl when they went out on a date. Prestige, all you need is the semblance of the truth and 1 seems to count. The bias media will be glad to assist the Democrats to get as much mileage as possible from a story.

I can't say I know which bill you are referring to specifically but the answer is quite simple. The word bipartisan is used by the media to suggest that both sides of the aisle think something is best for the country. Even if most Republicans don't agree with some frivolous piece of legislature the media tries to hoodwink the American people into believing that both party's agree on what must be done. It's a way for the media to try to get widespread support from the public for something that most Republicans wouldn't agree with if they paid closer attention.
In other words, it's the liberal media continuing to remain complicit in pushing the liberal agenda.

Can you say PROFIT!
I believe it has to do with the fact that even the newspapers are focused on making a profit! The theory is that if the headline reads "DEMOCRATS (or REPUBLICANS) PUSH FOR __________ BILL" then it becomes a topic for debate - depending on which political party you are affiliated. The same goes for the reverse.
If it claims that both parties are for it - no matter who you are - you should be "for" the proposed bill - because it sounds like everyone is.
MOST (not all) media is liberal based, so this is a way to get a surge of attention and support for a bill.
Too bad, a lot of people actually find out the truth - to which side is really pushing to get the bill passed into law, and then make their own opinion based on that!

One is all it takes to make it bi-partisan. I've never believed that all republicans were bad.

Because the American media has a serious right wing bias. They spew right wing lies and distortions every day.
