The second part of your question to me asserts that you feel there is something outside of your grasp. This coupled with the first part of your question leads me to believe that it is a love interest that you feel unable to interest.
I would suggest that prior to looking outside of yourself for contentment that you develop your mind / spirit to be at peace first with yourself.
Have an idea of personal wholeness. That you as a person are whole and complete on your own.
After that point relationships are very wonderful and from here we can begin to explore the first part of your question. I feel that we love because we have been made to do so & after we experience personal wholeness, nothing is better than having a soul mate to share it with.
My wife and I are on a journey together, it is wonderful.
I hope that you are able to find personal wholeness..... truthfully after that everything else just seems to happen because of our indivudual energy and how we broadcast our signal to others.

I really think love can mean different things to different people. Iloved my dog I really don't know why - but he was a great dog & I knew him well & he knew me. To obtain something out of your reach - work hard & be very positive
