All you have to do is use the addition and subtraction properties to move things around:
y=2x+2
Subtract 2x from both sides:
y-2x=2x-2x+2
Simplify:
y-2x=2
Use the commutative property (a+b=b+a)
-2x+y=2
Now it is standard form A=-2, B=1, C=2

This just means get x and y all on the left side.

So, subtract 2x from both sides of your equation. You'd get
-2x + y = 2 ... which is the answer.

Sometimes books require you to make "A" positive. If yours does, you just change the sign on everything. You'd get
2x - y = -2.
