Some of those folks just CAN'T be real.....can they?

I don't think they are professional actors. But I do think some of them are "hired" to be bad, and they don't really think they can sing. I think most "reality" shows are scripted to some degree. Once American Idol gets past the first few awful "contestants" there may be some legitimacy to the competition. But the TV audience is very gullible, and I think a lot of that beginning stuff is intentionally bad, and all the participants know exactly what they're doing.

I agree with Monkeyboy about the idiots that exist. I mean, look at those who appear on Fear Factor. Sure, cow gall is considered a delicacy in some countries.. name 2 of them. It is amazing what people will do to themselves just to appear on camera. But I do think that some of those on American Idol are actors. Locally hired, and just waiting to be "discovered".

Anything is possible. I can't imagine anyone wanting to audition for American Idol and making a fool of themselves on national television.

You know what - I never thought of that before. Certainly would explain their very high ratings. Total thumbs up for that question!!!!

It would seem to me that at the first screeening process before you get to Randy, Simon and Paula you would weed out the no talents.

I hope they are actors because anyone telling these poor folks that they have singing talent is just SAD

I think they are. If you go to any karaoke bar, you can find someone who thinks they are a singer, but who's voice will strip paint from the walls. American Idol interviews thousands and thousands of people, and only a few hundred actually get on the show. So, yes, it is possible to find that many bad singers.

All they are doing by showing the "bad auditions" is exploiting people with mental disabilities. Yes at times it's funny but it's also wrong. I don't believe they use actors.

I don't think they are actors - these people are either delusional and think they can really sing, or they just want their 5 minutes of fame. Last night's show had the worst singing I've ever heard in my life. Cows in labor have to sound better. All they are doing is making fools of themselves.

I know what you mean, I was told, unsure if true and can't remember who, that they have to audition before they even reach Simon, Paula, n Randy. It's all for the ratings but I do believe a lot of those people think they are the sh*t and suck!

I've commented on this very thing before. . I think that some of the people on there are skits. Regardless they are funny and to find some of the funny people that they find. . its totally worth it. I just dont see how some people can think their talents match up to the professionalism it takes to be a musician. . .some of these people are the scum of trailer trash american society. . .

ooops . .did i say that?!
