my catfish is loosing his scales?

they are literally falling right off his whole back end looks like a fish fillet and hes been like this a week ive been medicating but its not working any suggestions

You need to tell us what type of catfish it is, and what medication you have been using.I would guess that it has to do with the medication you are using because I have never had this problem with any of my fish. Make sure you read up on the medication because some are not safe for bottom feeders.

Are you sure you have a catfish? Many do not have scales (or their scales are large plates like armor). Here's a website that has lots of pictures of aquarium fish and their care. Maybe if you could figure out what kind of fish you have, I could be of more help.

Here are a few other things for you to think about: Do you have any other fish in your tank? Another fish might be picking on that catfish. You might try a tank divider (or another container) to keep him by himself and see if that helps. If it's by itself, are there any rough/sharp objects in your tank that he's running into while swimming around? If so, removing the objects might help.

What kind of catfish and what are you medicating with? Most catfish are scaleless, and alot of medications are NOT for scaless fish or inverabrates. They burn there skin, like coppersafe, and other meds.. Do you know what kind of catfish??
