living in holland i do quite a lot of p2p and bit torrents but appearently it can really wreck your HDD. i had a 160GB segate IDE drive but it broke after a year( well it makes a loud ticking noise and then blue screens) would you reccomend a 320GB perpendicular drive or a 250GB drive designed for small servers

The reason doing a lot of p2p kills hard drives is because of the constant adding and deleting and searching for files on the drive. while the program is sharing files, the hard drive has to constantly access the files, and therefore running its life down. Compare the specs for operating temperatures, and runtime life by cycles.

difficult drives are hardware. information can no longer bodily injury them. save in mind that the platters spin at something like 20 miles according to hour in there. Thecontinual is in consistent action and has mechanical factors. those factors are what many times fail. it particularly is basic positioned on and tear, or a effect of small production defects. there is not any thank you to strengthen the existence of your difficultcontinual.

SCSI drives are generally more stable, higher RPM, normally used in servers and workstations. Perpendicular drives offer the latest storage technology.

SATA are very close to SCSI quality! Any manufactures drive could have failed, they are all very close in quality!

Think about SATA drives. Two drives in RAID configuration, and one drive for your operating system.
