Should there be dress codes or uniforms too?

um... no they should not be allowed to dress how they want, at least not at school. Life is full of rules and every profession has a dress code.
I am all for expressing yourself, however, there should be guidelines. To the person who said you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, well unfortunately, the way you dress gives an impression. I remember how I wanted to dress as a teenager, and looking back on it, that is really not the impression I wanted to give
.I do not understand how showing body parts is really expressing yourself, unless you want to express that you are prepared to be sexually active. Showing body parts does not express how beautiful you are on the inside.
Most teenagers haven't learned "time and place". You wanna show your body parts, we have beaches, we have skate parks, we have places where it is appropriate. School is a place to learn to be an adult. You should dress the part to an extent. Adults know where these clothes are appropriate.

Another thing for all girls to remember, you never know who is watching you. Sexual predators come in all shapes and sizes. Use common sense and dress appropriately for the place you are going to be.

i used to think that uniforms and dress codes were horrible. we got uniforms in 5th grade. and now, 6 years later, I'm not hating them one bit! If you wanna be original, you can accessorize. But it's drastically lowered the number of fights and arguments over the years! It keeps people from being prejudiced through clothing. There's no distraction in the classrooms. If the girls can't show anything, the guys can't stare. Our uniforms consist of khaki/navy pants/shorts/skirts (no skorts) (a dollar bill width is the shortest), in elementary, burgundy/navy/grey polo or oxford shirts, then in secondary, burgundy/hunter green/white same shirts. it's a pretty strict code (there's a LOT more to it) but I like it. If a girl wants to look cute, there's TONS of stuff that goes with white/khaki which is what many people wear. Uniforms are ESPECIALLY helpful on those days when you wake up extremely late and all you have to do is throw on the uniform. A non uniform school around here (though it does have a VERY loose dress code), many of the girls wake up 2 hours earlier than we do and they start 30 minutes after us. just so they can pick out their outfits and make sure it matches to the T! ugh and they wear HEELS everyday! half the time my friends and i just are like screw it and don't even wear MAKE UP! so i've birdwalked across the continent, but i think that at school, teens shouldn't be able to wear whatever.

as long as they are not nude I think it should be left to the discretion of the parents and the teenagers themselves
Because you did not specify dress in school or anywhere most schools have a dress code or uniform policy, I don't think that dress codes or at least uniforms are a good idea ,basically it is merely preventing the inevitable the kids are going to see it on TV and the street and the mall and it is going to be just as distracting if they get use to it now and while in school it isn't such a shock and a distraction when they do see it.

i don't care what they do now. but they were talking about a uniforms when i was in school. (last year) but i think that is stupid. we had a dress code where if u wore a shirt that had a gun drugs alcohol or to reveling then we couldn't wear it and if we did they we had to put inside out, or wear our gym shirt over it.

Absolutely...They should be allowed to dress and look any way they wish..They teen years are the most influential part of growing up..Those are they years you are really learning "who" you are as a person and if you don't have a chance to experiment how will you know what works for you and what doesn't?....I think it is so much more important what is on the inside than the outside any way..You should NEVER judge a book by the cover....you might very well miss some very good reading....Same with people..Don't judge or you might miss getting to know w really great person...Don't cut yourself short like that..ss

Absolutely not! all teens need a dress code because not all follow that law, "Just cuz they make it in your size, don't mean you gotta wear it" and "Skin is not in" They should cover up Bonnie and Clyde. And that tush! No body wants to see all that blubber and cellulite at school or in public for that matter.
COVER UP PEOPLE.IT'S THE LAW! (or atleast it should be. If you wanna go naked, go to Spain)

Dress codes should be for school time not play time.

I think there should be dress guidlines so that students do not wear disruptive, insulting , unsafe, or over revealing clothes to school. There should be room for individual expression in that code of guidelines.

i'm no longer Muslim, yet each Muslim lady i have considered hasn't ever no longer worn a skirt, besides the undeniable fact that some compromise by donning denims below a knee length skirt. in reality, besides the undeniable fact that, till you're eighteen or financially independant out of your mom and father, you're going to ought to submit with the gown code. per chance you could compromise by asking to placed on denims in the homestead? Or placed on denims below a skirt outdoors of the homestead?
