My daughter is almost 8 months and she doesnt even attempt to crawl when i put her on her tummy. Should I worry? From what I understand some babies never crawl. So how old was your baby when they crawled and took their first steps?

When she was like 2 or 3 months she scooted and tried to crawl, and when my daughter was 6 months, the Doc asked if she is scooting/crawling...I said "no", but that she used to. The doc said thats fine as long as she did it. My older sister never crawled, and didnt walk until she was 1 1/2....Im just curious to see the ages when your kids crawled and walked....

My daughter was the first child and so didn't have any siblings to motivate her. She learned everything at her own pace. She couldn't sit without falling until 10 months (she could sit, but would lean backwards)... Then at10 months she crawled and got a better idea of balance.. and then sat no problem... my mom and I got her to walk between us by 13 months, but before that she would take a step here and there. I think one reaon she didn't crawl sooner was that she invented her own way of getting around... she used her arms like she was paralized, lol.. and pulled herself everywhere. But once she started walking... she wanted more and more independence... everyone has thier own pace... especially first born children

All babys are different. My 2 older sons crawled at around 6 months and walked a few days after their first birthdays. My 3rd son was around 8 or 9 months when he crawled and was 15 months when he started to walk.

My daughter never really crawled. She did scoot backwards for a few days, she was taking steps at just before 8 months and by 10 months was walking on her own.

My daughter will be 8 months next week and she is just like yours, has shown no effort to try to crawl. She has an older sister, they are 15 months apart, but that doesn't mean anything. So I am a little worried but from reading some of these responses, I feel better. I know that all babies are different, just be patient and one day she may surprise you, that's what I'm hoping on. Good Luck!!!!

My little girl (who is now 30 months) never really crawled until she was almost 10 months old! She crawled for a month then starting walking. It is true some babies completely skip crawling and go to walking! Completely normal!

My son was 6 months when he crawled, and just started walking last week he's 11 months. He is in daycare though and had 2 other babies one month older then him to keep up with!

Let's see, my daughter starting crawling somewhere around your girl's age though I've lost track already (never wrote it down, do or you'll forget!) but I was never worried. Maybe just a LITTLE annoyed when I heard someone boasting about their baby walking at 9mths, and there was my girl not even trying to crawl, but whatever!! She started walking with me holding onto just one had around 11 or 12 mths, but waited another mth for her confidence to build up a bit more. At 14mth's she's running around. Honestly, dont worry about this stuff! Sure, being around other children probably helps, but when she's 2 none of this will matter in the slightest, whether she started crawling/walking at 9, 12, 18mths.

my daughter was 4 months old when she took her first steps she was crawling first but we stood her up alot and tried to get her to walk to people sitting on the couch. its cool. she is four now. no you shouldnt worry she loves you and crawling isnt what she is concetrated on when shes on yur tummy. try on an open floor or do what i did but hold her hands in front of her or above her head when attempting to walk and just lay her on the floor and have her crawl to you very closely then just move further back. thats all you have to do itll be ok. my daughter is also an only child. from me any way she has a sister from another man. only like a year apart.

My son crawled at 6 months and walked at 9. My sisters son never crawled at all, and did not start walking on his own until he was 16 months. He is a perfectly normal child. He was and still is very cautious about getting hurt.

My boy didn't crawl PROPERLY until he was 10 1/2 months old. He kinda' scooted on the floor a bit before that, and rolled, but that was all. He didn't walk until 13 months old.

Kids will do things at different stages. A friend's little girl didn't walk until her 2nd birthday, and was a 'bum shuffler' before that. She's 7 now and you'd never know the difference. I wouldn't worry about it.
