She should just drip dry her little gem rather than fidget with a widget cos it might romaine soggy otherwise.

She should use a salad spinner, much better than either a colander or a sieve

Wrap the lettuce in a clean tea-towel, and either pat it dry or spin it outside.

I use a salad spinner made by OXO, it is the best!! Bed Bath & beyond carries them for about 20 bucks

i use a spinner, but i used to just wash the leaves and put them in a clean tea towel, then go outside and whirl it around for a while. Fun. plus you water your lawn i guess...

Have her put the lettuce in a pillowcase and put in the dryer on cool. That should do it.
