not a very serious or nice question but no unless you are have a large facility or know what kind of fur, the fur industry needs you can not profit off the fur. You can maybe profit off meat production but then again you must be a large scale breeder. No one will buy from some one with 2 or 3 rabbits. You also have to know your rabbit breeds, what the yield is of meat to fat ratio, and the condition, age, and legal weights to sell at. To boot if you need a Licence to sell meat or fur commerically. If you are not even remotely aware of these things you dont need to try to raise rabbits for profit. Raising rabbits for pets, do not make a profit. The amount of food, cages, care, and proper socialization needed would out cost the profit made by selling for pets. People who do it for show are usually prepared to not make any profit and most likely they are a cost. You really cant sell a rabbit for more than 10$ they are not popular pets or wanted. Check you local shelter and see just how many abandoned rabbits there are. LOTS and LOTS. So unless you are able to afford, raise, and deal with all the other things envolved with keeping a LARGE MASSIVE number of animals its not worth it or needed.

It is possible to make money off of rabbits, i am 100% against selling their furs, snake food, or fryer bunnies etc.

But you can breed the rabbits and sell them for pets. I've been a rabbit breeder for 4 1/2 years and at holidays like East i start out with 150 (on average) baby rabbits for sale, and I sell about 85% of them.

some will buy for some cruel things like food.
but if you find the right people you can make alot of money if theyre purebred. there are some people out there who wants em for pets...maybe you could give em to a rabbit farm
if theyre not purebred you can still make money but not alot.
post a classified in the paper..or better yet online (not here) and state for pet.
also you can look in the yellow pages for people that deal with rabbits and contact them.
oh wait the best method is to go to a rabbit show and sell them there. many people will want em for showing so they wouldnt mind having em for a pet. yes there is such a thing as a rabbit show..again search online for the details on the next one.

People buy the fur ... people eat the meat ... but it is something like a $1 or $2 a rabbit. Plus you have to have the stomach to whack them over the head and rip the skins off. But that's farming just like any other kind of animal raising business.

And by the way ... one rabbit won't do you much good ... you need at least TWO ... one of each if you know what I mean.

In the US, not many people eat rabbit meat, but it tastes to me just like white meat turkey. The rabbit is THE most efficient farm animal to raise for meat. In a very small area you can raise over 250 lbs of meat per year with 2 females and 1 male rabbit.
However, it has been my experience that you can't make much money raising rabbits for meat, fur or pets if you are raising them to sell in the US. Their main value is if you wanted to raise them for your own meat production. I found that if I bought all the feed for my rabbits, I could produce meat for about $1.00 a pound, however, by "pasturing" our rabbits on grass in moveable enclosures (like pastured poultry) and picking them clover and other wild foods, we could produce great tasting meat for about a quarter a pound that is higher in protein than beef and lower in fat and cholesterol than chicken. Also, I know that my rabbits are not fed growth hormones, antibiotics and are very well taken care of.

It's very difficult to actually turn a profit. For a fur or meat industry, you'll have to have a LOT of animals requiring a big investment. You can sell them for pets, but you probably won't even recoup feed bills that way. You can sell show and breeding stock, but you'll have to build up a good reputation as a consistently winning breeder to ask top prices for them.

p.s. there is no such breed as a "new zealand giant!"

My uncle used to raise rabbits and eat them. So you can sell them for food or eat the rabbits yourself. I personally would NOT do this I think its kinda sad. Or you can get 2 have them make babies and sell them. I really dont think you would get much money though because not too many people have rabbits for pets. Your better off getting an expensive dog and breeding.

you are a horrible person. rabbits are living creatures, not objects made to be profitable. you do not deserve to own a pet. being the owner of a rabbit, i can tell you that they're much more social and intelligent than given credit for. it sounds as if you have issues with your thought proccesses and morals.

You can breed them or if you have fluffy rabbits you can make wool out of the fur that falls off. If you have angora rabbits you could be on to a winner!

That's pretty sick. Regardless of that, you would need a licence to have a fur business, along with insurance, Federal Tax ID and the whole works.
