the younger the better!! a newborn has a reflex that once their head hits the water it holds it's breath. this is a proven scientific fact. you can apparently put a newborn baby into a pool within hours of being born and it will not drown. since they already automatically hold their breath under water, this is the best time to start putting them in a pool, so they dont forget what it was like to be inside the womb.

We got a pool last summer when my daughter was about 16 months old, and she absolutely LOVED it. We bought her a really cool baby boat so she could bop around and splash. Sometimes we would hold her under her arms and let her extend her legs out, and she was kicking like a pro. We never let her head go under water and didn't keep her out there too long, but she did wonderfully. You can probably find expert recommendations on the internet, but that's just my own experience... good luck.

We were instructed that it truly is a u . s . a . huge public well being coverage that babies that are not potty educated won't be able to bypass in public swimming pools (inspite of swim diapers). Now, it kind of feels mind-blowing, as just about each public pool promises infant swimming education, LOL, yet it truly is what the U. S. Dep't of well being says. only provide it a attempt. If it feels too chilly for you, it truly is too chilly.

my son was 10 mos old when i first brought him into the ocean or pool. i would of probably brought him in sooner if he wasn't born in september when summer is over.
just be careful so that baby does not swallow the water and if the baby starts to shake from being cold take him out. u don't want him to get hypothermia.

I asked my midwife this and she said any age, as long as baby has a little fat on them, and they have had their injections- so the earliest this would be is about 6 weeks.
