614583333/ 1000000000

Take the digits after the decimal point, and make them the top number (numerator) count the number of places after the decimal point and put that many zeros after a 1 and that is the bottom number (denominator).

You may be able to reduce the fraction.

The main question is whether you meant for the 3333 to be repeating after that...

If it doesn't repeat, then you just put the number over a power of 10 (with an equivalent number of zeroes).

In your case you have 9 digits after the decimal, so you would put it over 1 billion (1 followed by nine zeroes = 1,000,000,000)

So the answer would be:
614,583,333
------------------
1,000,000,000

On the other hand, if you intended for it to be repeating, then you have a different answer. Do the fixed part as usual, so that would be:

61,458
----------
100,000

The next part you put the repeating part (3) over an equivalent number of nines (9). But then follow it by the number of zeroes used before. So you would add:
3
------------
900,000

You can reduce this to:
1
-----------
300,000

Now just add the two fractions:
61,458 ......... 1
---------- + -----------
100,000 .. 300,000

You need to get the same denominators:
184,374 ......... 1
---------- + -----------
300,000 .. 300,000

Then you can add:
184,375
-----------
300,000

Now see if you can't do some reducing:
36,875
---------
60,000

7,375
---------
12,000

1,475
-------
2,400

295
-----
480

And the final answer is:
59
---
96

You can now check this with your calculator:
59 / 96 = 0.61458333333333...

Here's how to convert 0.614583333 to a fraction...

There is not much that can be done to figure out how to write 0.614583333 as a fraction, except to literally use what the decimal portion of your number, the .614583333, means.
Since there are 9 digits in 614583333, the very last digit is the "1000000000th" decimal place.

So we can just say that .614583333 is the same as 614583333/1000000000.

So your final answer is: 0.614583333 can be written as the fraction 614583333 over 1000000000

Simple, put the number(s) behind the decimal over how many decimal places there are in powers of tenths (zeroes after the 1)...confused? Look here:

0.1 = 1/10 ==>1x10^1
0.123 = 123/1000 ==> 1x10^3
0.9999 = 9999/10000 ==> 1x10^4

So, in this case, it would be:

0.614583333 = 614583333/1000000000
See? simply put "614583333" over [10 to the power of (the number of digits)], 1000000000.

If you simplify it, you get the simple fraction 59/96.
There are several other ways to do it.

The other way to do it is by multiplying 0.614583333 by whole numbers (2, 3, 4, etc.) until you get a whole number.
Now take that number (which will be 59) and put it over the product of the whole numbers after 0.614583333 (which, in this case, will be 96). 59/96

Some numbers numbers you cannot put into fractions are radical numbers beyond the decimals (radical 13, 15, etc.)
There are others that I probaly am not aware of...

Assuming the 'point 3' is to infinity.

Let P = 0.614583333333
Then 1000000P = 614583.33333333333333333
& 100000P = 61458.3333333333333333
& Subtracting
900000P = 553125.0
P = 553125/900000
P =110625/180000
P = 22125/36000
P = 4425/7200
P = 885/1440
P = 177/288
P = 59/96
This fraction will not cancel down any further because 59 is a prime number.

First, set it equal to a variable, good ol' x.
x = .6145383333...
(I assume the 3's repeat)
Now multiply both sides by 10 (move the decimal to the right 1 space)
10x = 6.14583333....
Subtract x (also known as .614583333...) from each side
9x = 5.53125 (the repeating 3's drop off)
Multiply both sides by 100000
900000x = 553125
Divide both sides by 900000
x = 553125 / 900000
The largest common factor happens to be 9375, so by dividing the numerator and denominator each by that, you get
59 / 96. That's just simplifying the terms.
This process will work with any fraction.
A shortcut is to notice that 83333... is 5/6ths, so multiply both sides of the x = .6145383333... equation by 6 and you get 6x = 3.6875. Try multiplying again by 4 to get 24x = 14.75, and again by 4 to get 96x = 59. Divide both sides by 96, and viola! x = 59/96.

Consider some examples:-

0.64 = 64 /100 = 16/25
0.732 = 732 /1000 = 366/500 =133/250
0.2357 = 2357/10,000

Now consider your question:-
0.614583333 = 61458333 /100,000,000

Hope you get the idea. Decimal point has to be moved 8 places to the left in your example so require 8 zeros as given by 100,000,000
