Ahhh.... don't misunderstand the purpose for this question. I am tired of hearing that the War in Iraq was for Oil. I happen to believe differently. I just want for those of you who repeat that it was oil to give details.

I challenge you... all of you... I don't think anyone can.

Excellent theory Drummer but it is simply that, a theory.

There are many reasons that the value of the dollar started to drop in 2000. One of which is the recession that started under Clinton and was picking up momentum until Bush came back with the tax cuts that stopped that in its tracks. Another is 9/11, which is no secret. Then came Enron. After Enron came a year with 5 major hurricanes in the SouthEast. All this time Bush's domestic policies kept the recession at bay and inflation stifled.

You are right. After searching I found no evidence or basis that supports the "war for oil" argument. There are several propaganda sites and blogs, but not one ounce of solid evidence of the claim.

Here is a THEORY which may help to clarify the importance of Iraq oil to the US.

The Euro has begun to emerge as a serious threat to dollar hegemony and U.S. economic dominance. The dollar may prevail throughout the Western Hemisphere, but the Euro and dollar are clashing in the former Soviet Union, Central Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the Middle East.

In November 2000, Iraq became the first OPEC nation to begin selling its oil for Euros. Since then, the value of the Euro has increased 17%, and the dollar has begun to decline. One important reason for the invasion and installation of a U.S. dominated government in Iraq was to force the country back to the dollar. Another reason for the invasion is to dissuade further OPEC momentum toward the Euro, especially from Iran- the second largest OPEC producer, who was actively discussing a switch to Euros for its oil exports.
The Bush/Cheney administration probably believes that the occupation of Iraq and the installation of a large and permanent U.S. military presence in the Persian Gulf region will stop other OPEC producers from even considering switching the denomination of their oil sales from dollars to Euros.

And what is the problem with fighting for oil? Do any of you realize what our lives would be like without it? What do you think would happen to this country without oil? Think about how many products we have that are petroleum based and all the jobs that would fold without it. Factories would close all over the country. Think Mad Max. Think of the crime rate that would escalate. If oil was suddenly not available to the US from Middle Eastern sources, who do you think would control it here in the states? Big business and Big brother.

Oil is only pointed out as a business end of this war when there is a Texan in the White House. What was the excuse when Clinton was bombing Iraq?

We are establishing the country's government right now. That should say a lot of things right there, Sadamm is gone....Which means that the country will possibly have a democracy and we will get to establish an economy in that country , If all goes the way this Moron is planning. ( at least this is what I understand)

I like to know about his plan B if his plans do not fall through....

I've dared libs to tell me how much President Bush and his so called cronies have 'stolen' from Iraq and cite the source! Imagine my surprise when all I got for my trouble was hateful rhetoric and no evidance! I view it as a civic duty to expose the WAR FOR OIL myth, along with the numerous lib lies and deceit!

Keep up the good work!

MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS AMERICA!

you won't get many answers on this one But i'll be watching I would like to see these answers

I figured it out Bigfoot(the holder of the 100 mpg carburator patent) started the war. His plan was to drive the oil prices up so he could make butt loads on his carb. Elvis( top dog at halibuten) is in charge of secretly running the oil pipeline back to Tx. for the pres. so he can make millions of of Iraqi oil. God it was so simple I don't see how any of us didn't see it to begin with

We invaded Iraq and deposed Saddam so that the joyful flower strewing Iraqi people would sell the rights to their Oil reserves on the world market (Halliburton) to generated funds to pay for the reconstruction of their country(Halliburton).

Remember when the war was going to be over in days(Shock & Awe) and cost nothing? This was the plan.

But it was the plan of a bunch of incompetents - hence there is no win and no oil.

We didn't invade Iraq for oil. We did it to make sure that they didn't commit acts of terrorism again. We made sure that they didn't have any nuclear weapons or anything like that. We set up a new government for them and were going to leave, but since things are getting rough over there again we are going to stay for a little while longer.

Yeah! Why isn't old glory flying over the oil fields while the conquering heroes extract the oil and put it into American flagged tankers bound for the USA.

If we went to war for oil, we should take it!
