I am 31 weeks pregnant and i made the less than good choice to fly to Romania.Just for the record it was a great opportunity job wise.I have had a perfectly healthy pregnancy up till this point . I had my doctor write me a note as well so i had no problems flying there and the airline seemed more concered with checking my bags than my pregnancy.Problem is i passed out at work and was taken to a hospital and put on bed rest.I have apparently started dialating and was told i cant leave Romania.I am currently in the city of Iasi in a hotel.I was told if i fly it would be dangerous and i could go into labor? Now they say my blood pressure is getting rather high and they think i should rest 4-6 weeks after the baby comes before flying any where!I feel fine though?

You don't want to risk it. You could ask for another opinion from another doctor but the second opinion doctor will probably tell you the same thing. You may feel fine but you could be at risk and you might put yourself in more danger and the baby at risk if you try to fly back to the states. I don't think it would be very good if you went into labor on the airplanie while in the air.

It doesn't sund like you are having your baby in the states. Your pregnancy obviously isn't stable, and getting on a plane would be a poor choice.

That said, are you in communication with your primary doctor back home and/or are the doctors seeing you in Romania communicating with your doctor?

My advice would be to accept that you are giving birth in Romania. It will be a cool story you can tell your child years later, and you don't have to worry about it affecting citizenship as far as I know. DO NOT stress about the after birth recovery time now. Focus on finding an english fluent doula to help you with the situation you have, and tell yourself "we'll see how I actually am after the birth, there's no need to make those plans now".

the airline may consider it too risky (expense-wise) to let you on without a doctor's approval. keep trying different airlines -you may find one that would prefer to sell a seat than to think about the possible risks (of turning back or making an emergency landing, making other accommodations for all the other passengers on the plane with you who have been greatly inconvenienced). where there's a will there's a way

If your doctor says no to you returning to the states I doubt very much you would find an airline willing to take on the liability of transporting you because if anything happened their butts would be in major trouble and no airline is going to risk that sort of a law suit.

get a second and third opinion

I had 7 doctors at one point in life.

View them as smart people who SOMETIMES know more about what is good for you than you do. Not always. They are skilled experienced people who can often help us understand our illnesses and problems. Be open minded, ask why if you don't agree. Really listen and consider what they say carefully. Use what works for you and makes good sense to you I figure.

They are not gods, just smart people who mostly are trying to help us.

If it were me and I was in your situation, I would be on the phone calling my doctor in the States and see what his/her reccomendation is. The romania doctor can send your test results, file, etc to your US doctor. Your blood pressure is high because of all the stress you are under and it can cause pre-term labor if you aren't careful.

This is a tough question, but personally, I'd be on the phone to Northwest or Air Romania or whoever would get me the heck out of there! Honestly, I don't think they can stop you. You know what's best for you and your baby and I doubt it means laying around in Romania for a month! Get home.

I think you should consider flying. your the mom you know whats best. if you feel fine go. i wouldnt wanna have a baby in a strange country, i'd wanna be home with my family. but your safety comes first. think of it this way, your kid is gonna have a intresting story to tell of how it was born! it could be a fun experience.

I would listen to the dr. He probably wont give you permission to fly back home anyway. Planes don't want women going into labour on them!
