He will have to pay child support until the child turns 18, or if he/she turns 18 prior to graduating from HS, then it quits when HS is over. As far as the back child support, he will owe it until it's paid off. Don't let it accumulate too long, they charge interested on it as well!

Your husband will owe until it's all paid off, all That back pay. And if the child is under 18 he will get hit for current child support as well. It don't matter is the child is 19th yrs old if that back child support is not paid off he has to pay all of it. Now, when the child turns 18 the current child support will stop. And you make sure it does because the state sometimes the state will keep charging you and they don't even realize it. And also keep track of every payment you'll make. Sometimes the state will swear you didn't pay that month. Sometimes things get lost. You have to keep good records until the child support is all paid off. And even then keep all records. Never throw them away. If he don't pay the state can take his divers license away. In if he gets income money he won't see that no more. And if he stops working in your working they will take from your pay checks. Now if the child support bill is to high for you guys to live. You and him can go to court in tell the courts you can't afford it at this rate. Your going to have to bring prove of your income or both of you and prove of your house payment/rent in all your bills. More in likely they will lower your child support payments. But if you ignore it all kinds of bad is going to happen. This is something that has to be taken care. You can't put in in the back seat. It has to be deal with. Sooner the better.

Your husband needs to get with the child support program and try to catch up, because the bill at the end can be nasty. True story that just happened to a friend of mine a couple of weeks ago. Her ex husband was not paying child support and was in the negative to the tune of $22,000.00. He got hurt at work and was unable to work, had hospital bills etc... He filed a workmans comp claim for the injury. Workmans comp paid $20,000, but the check was made out to his ex wife and all he got was a letter saying that his claim had been settled and the distribution was sent to his ex wife to settle 20 of the 22K he owed in back child support. So now, not only can he not work, he just watched a check for 20K go to his ex wife. It will happen with any government payout if the state knows about it... They do not just forget about it when the kids turn 18 either. If she wants to get nasty about it, she can go to court and have his pay garnished too, depending on the state you live in...

Yes, he will still owe it even after the kids turn 18. You should sue him now. In many states, dead beat dads get their drivers licenses suspended until they pay up. Since most people can't get to work without driving, this will give him a real incentive to start paying the child support. Also if you sue him now, you can have his paycheck garnished. This means that his boss has to pay a percentage of his paycheck directly to you.

Wake up girl! Why are you waiting until your child(ren) turn 18? I went through a similar situation with my five children back in 1982. Get to your City Prosecutor's Office and give them the details and let them go after him. My ex-husband was working at Inland Steel, bringing home $40,000+ a year, lived with his mother, parties day in and day out, drank day in and day out. Guess what???? The child support division of Indiana (or any state nowadays) don't like deadbeat parents and will go after your ex. And yes, if you pursue this, you will get every cent that is owed to you and your children. They will even garnish his tax returns. I know, because I got my ex-husband's for several years until he was paid in full.

Back child support is owed until it is paid regardless of the child's age. Also, the attorney general can take lottery winnings, IRS refunds, and other such income to pay that off and that debt collects interest so he is getting further behind every day. They can suspend his driver's license and report it to the credit bureaus. One other thing....he can eventually be taken to jail for not paying child support so it is in his best interest to get caught up.

This ain't no longer some thing new. There are 1000's of 1000's of ladies folk who do and performance executed this. till the court docket equipment is conscious that it truly is been made a pawn in the criminal shakedown procedure no longer some thing will ever substitute except men will to do even below they do now and also you'll't blame them even as handling one of those women folk. Even the boys who do the right ingredient struggle through with being taken back to court docket each 2 years for the added shakedown. women folk are all about greed.
