I think that some black men expect to be "mothered" by women. In the past mothers has been the primary bread-winners in African-American families and their sons expect the tradition to continue. Luckily that is beginning to change now.

I don't understand. I thought materialism transcended Race or Ethnicity. I see lots of Asians and Caucasians with material things so not sure what you mean.
