You're right, profanity can be found within any genre of music, including rock. And you know what? I hate it all! Any music that promotes violence, promiscuous sex, and drug dealing is, in my personal opinion, extremely inappropriate and unworthy of attention.

And to comment on your last statement concerning individuals raised in the hip-hop/rap culture, I totally disagree with your reasoning. From childhood into adulthood, we humans are constantly reminded of the consequences of undesirable behavior, thus developing the ability to distinguish between what is right and what is wrong. Believe me, I understand that growing up in a hostile enviornment and/or impoverished neighborhood can do some horrible things to the mind, but one cannot allow his/her environment to shape their lives. Yes, you can listen to hardcore rap all you want, but that does not mean that you have to succumb to that particular lifestyle, nor does it mean that people have to accept the path you have taken either. (Which, by the way, is what you are obviously asking Y!Answers participants to do.) With that said, the enviroment in which you were raised does not define you as a person, and neither will a few lyrics from some profane song.

sure, some rock songs are incomprehensible, but some rap songs are too. Besides, a lot of rap songs ARE about blood, sex, booze, and illegal drugs. Rock songs do have some sex, but a lot are anti drug, you realize this when you listen to the lyrics. People can change, just because they grew up with this stuff, a lot of rockers have to. Mike Dirnt from Green Day had a mother addicted to heroin. I hate rap music because it is very explicit, isn't really music but kind of like words to a beat by black people making funny noises with there mouths, and like all music, it's racist. That's the main problem with a lot of modern music genres, it's very racist. You don't see scrawny white guys singing "Ride and Dirty" or whatever that song's called, but you do see them singing "White and Nerdy" lol

I am a rap hater for the reasons you listed and also because I like songs I can hum along to - you can't hum to rap. As for the listed reasons, I am well aware that is some people's culture and what they grew up around. But that doesn't mean they can't rise above the violence and drugs and try to be better than how they were raised. I also never say that EVERYONE should hate rap for those reasons. My opinion pertains only to me. If you want to listen to it, go right ahead.

I think that your question was one of the most poorly written, indecipherable ones I have ever seen on here. I don't like ANY song that expounds violence whether it be gangs, guns, drugs, behavior against another person. That goes for any music genre. It doesn't have to be all roses and lollipops but it doesn't have to be violent either.

Also, I don't get why slamming another kind of music makes you think that someone will like what you like better. Might make me NEVER wanna listen to another rap song.

And to sum it up, if it is all you knew growing up and it is just that bad wouldn't you want to try and improve your life by changing it? That may mean NOT glorifying just exactly what you seem to be trying to glorify.

I think I will remember your name.

assorted human beings say that because of the fact track could be lots greater. track has led riots, been instrumental in protests and challenged peoples innovations and viewpoints. Rapping or making a track approximately purely 2 matters feels like a waste of skills and money if thats all that comes out.

its cause they never grew up in the housing living with 1 parent, cause they were never dirt poor, cause they never had brothers and sisters who were in a gang, cause their best friends never had to sell crack just to feed their kids, cause they never got shot at just cause they live on the wrong street, cause they dont understand or appreciate what they grew up with and they think they got problems.

most of todays rap sucks and is just about money and hos and glorifys the streets, but old school rap was for real and was true.

Personally i listen to rap for the beats and hooks and stuff like that and i listen to rock type stuff for lyrics and melody so it just depends on what you like. Everyone has different tastes, but i like pretty much everything for different reasons.

First, I had some trouble reading what you typed. And I don't hate rap because of the content, I hate it because it's not my kind of music. And nowadays, rap isn't about killing people so much, it's about ******' some hoes and how much you paid for your shiny, sparkly teeth.
