I had a weird dream. I was in a train, then it got hit by another train. Then I was on the tracks, don't remember the whole dream. Then another train was coming, and I though I was going to get hit and die. Then somehow the dream changed and I ended up on another set of rail road tracks. How come I never got hit, or is it impossible to die in your dream. Perhaps if I was lucid, the train could have hit me, because I could control the dream. What does the dream mean?

When we sleep, the body shuts down physically and perceptually but not mentally. The brain uses what is still active after the day's thinking, associating feelings and images that are already connected in the brain. Hence, dreams have a certain reality but they seem weird and unreal.
Because your dream shifted to a new track, the dream wasn't about the threat of death...some other kind of threat.
The train symbolizes a journey, you are on your life's journey on the way to your chosen destination, whatever that may be. The crash represents unexpected forces that can derail you on your journey. Walking along the track, you wonder how to get back on track. Meanwhile, you hear another oncoming train...you know the treat is still real. But then you're on another track...you want to be going forward, but you have been temporarily derailed.
Apparently, you want to go somewhere in your life, but you have deep concerns about real threats that can prevent you from achieving your goals. Also, you have the grit to continue on, even after major derailments...

Train = force to move from one place to another, decision making
get hit by another train = affected by others
It seems like your dream is about death. However, it is more like about decision making. Train symbolizes how you make decision in life. However, there are some forces in your life that may affect you in many aspect of life especailly in situation where you have to decide which is one for you. In your case, another train can be your boss, parents or friends or co-workers. Dying in the dream could mean failure, but not dying could symbolize tough confrontation or struggle you want to hold on against.
In other words, you are struggling in terms of making your decision. Even though you have some influence, you hold on to your decision somehow. Perhaps, there are something on in your life that bothers so much. and project trains are the symbol of struggling. Whether the outcome is good, you vent this out in dream.

The tracks represent your life, and the numorous hits by the trains represent problems; multiple problems heading towards you one after another. As soon as you get one problem worked out then here comes another barreling towards you. These problems are meant to throw you off course; accepting the wrong job offer, dating or marrying the wrong individual, difficult family issues, etc.
While these problems are devastating to you they will not destroy your courage, and your determination to pick yourself up and continue living.
Brace the oncoming problems don't let them move you off the tracks that you are destined to travel.

Dream Symbols - Train, Track
Ancient dream texts believed that dreams of travel heralded a change in destiny. We do know that dreams of movement are the unconscious' way of calling attention to our personal and spiritual growth and progress. These dreams can also guide us on which direction to take.
