Because your story has more holes in it than Swiss cheese. You claim you did not know your brother and a friend were going to steal something, but when an employee of the store asks you to come over, your first thought is that your brother and friend stole something so you ran.

Come up with a better story than this.

You won't be convicted of any crime--or shouldn't be, because you are innocent. Walking into a store with a friend who steals is not illegal, however, walking out of a store with a friend who steals when you KNOW they stole could make you an accomplice. It is your job now to convince the jury (if you are ever charged) that you had no idea your friends had stolen anything, nor did you know they planned to steal anything. By the way, DO NOT TALK TO THE POLICE if you are questioned, NO MATTER WHAT THEY TELL YOU (they will lie to you). Get an attorney before you answer any questions and that includes recounting the story as you did today on Yahoo answers.

You must have been guilty for something since YOU avoided having a conversation with the lady.... YOU are the one who ran away from the issue..... YOU are the one who looks guilty.... Good luck when they find you....

Plus, Meijers has tons of cameras.... You are busted..... You already have 2 different versions of the story posted....

Get a life & stop stealing

So, you went into a store, TOTALLY INNOCENT, couldn't find anything to buy, and as you were leaving, a lady said, "Hey, you...come here!!!" and the FIRST thing you thought was, "Oh, my friends stole something!" and THEN you ran away even though you didn't do anything wrong?

I call BS. Running away isn't something innocent people do, and I bet you knew your friends were thieves beforehand. Stop hanging out with thieves and you won't get arrested for stealing.

You could be charged as an accessory here, since running shows guilty knowledge.

an important aside.... did you know they intended to steal something????? If you knew that was a possibility or even that it was what they intended, then you do bear some guilt (you are a party to the crime). Ideally, if you knew they were going to steal, you should have not been with them and should have reported the intended theft.... but not too many of us would do that!!!

You ran.
They might get you as an accomplice.
Probably they won't charge you and if
they do you can probably get off. Once you
are with a group who commits a crime and you
run from the scene, it will be your word against theirs.

They have to catch you in the act in the store to charge you with anything. Otherwise, they have no proof.

Rethink your choice of friends.

No you did not participate in any criminal act. You should have stayed in the store and right now you would not have any worries

They should have busted you for horrific grammar in the first degree.

Why did you run? This made you look very guilty.
