I can blame them! Kids are stupid, all they do is whine! They feel like they are owed something just for being alive. I don't mind them dropping out though. We will always need people that make us feel superior.

You can't blame someone for not wanting to be somewhere they possibly do not fit, but dropping out of school is not the answer. There are lots of alternatives to being in a public school. There is private school, home school, private tutoring. But you are right, the way our society is, it is not easy being in a public school, especially if you are new or just don't have many friends. But let me ask you this, if they can not succeed at an early age, and by dropping out of school, how are they going to succeed later in life when things really get tough. Then they are going to have to deal with a job, money, relationships, kids, life just gets harder as you go, maybe they should seek consuling now and try and find a fix for their problem.

I think kids that drop out of school just don't care. My fiance never finished high school because he never went to school in the first place. He didn't get into a lot of trouble, and definately doesn't do drugs as stated in the previous response. He just saw no point in going, and his parents really didn't force it either. He is very intelligent considering he didn't finish high school. No learning disability there. Parents need to help kids also, teachers can't do it all themselves. They have a lot of children to teach. If a child is having trouble, they should go directly to that teacher, so the teacher knows and can help them. There are also a lot of schools that have programs for students with disabilities. It just takes a little initiative on the students part. So I do blame the kids for not trying, and I also blame their parents.

You know what? I agree with you. If we want kids to be in school we need to make school valuable. Too often school is where kids go to be bullied by other kids, ridiculed by teachers, and where the education they manage to get doesn't get them into college or doesn't get them an adequate job.
In many cases I don't blame them. They are doing what their environment set them up to do.
That doesn't mean they don't need to go to school. They do. They won't get any job worth having without a minimum of a high school diploma. What we need to do is ensure that our country pays teachers as much as they are worth so that we have good teachers.
There are many excellent teachers out there. But there are far more students who deserve good educations than those teachers can reach.

I find education very important but you bring out a lot of good points. For the most part, kids do not just drop out because they are lazy but rather due to the reasons you have mentioned. It's a shame this world doesn't have more compassionate, open-minded people like yourself.
*If you are not a teacher you should be :)

You are describing me. Then I see other teenagers which have everything- even the smarts to do well in school- this one girl I know had a 90% grade average- but since she was on heavy drugs she failed the whole year for about six months in a row. Talk about disaster.

Well, that's why they should go to a counselor. Heck, I was bullied around and got jumped by a group of people who beat me up because I was gay. But I realized, that my education wasn't worth giving it up because of those reatrds. Even though, I was bullied, hated on, and had no friends, I made it, and now I have a pretty good life, with friends who love me for who i am.
Anything is worth it for your education!

yes, schools obviosuly do not work for some children. the problem is the education system, not the children. there should be apprenticeship or job training schools that kids can attend to learn a trade or some job skills, that would be more beneficial.

kids drop out for various reasons
and not all the time they are to blame
but you forgot to mention the one's that go and skip in the restrooms to smoke, starts fights, talk back to teachers, and basically have a bad behavior and dont care about skoo. those r the ones to blame cuz sometims their parents buy them uniforms and the school material for them to go but they end up not giving a ****.
