Hey,
Metallic properties decrease down a period.. This is because as you move down a period you move from metals to transitional metals, non-metals and finally to noble gases..
Eg. From the 2nd period beginning with Lithium(metal) and ending with Neon(noble gas)..
Elements in a period are not alike in properties. As a rule, the first element in a period is usually an active solid, and the last element in a period is always an inactive gas. Atomic size decreases from left to right across a period, but atomic mass increases from left to right across a period. Atoms on the left of the period, therefore, are usually larger and more lightweight than the smaller, heavier atoms on the right of the period.

It will develop for the era of a era, and reduces down a set. that is on the concern of atomic radius. As you bypass right for the era of a era, the atomic radius decreases, because the electrons are on an same power factor as interior the former aspects on that row, although there are more effective protons interior the nucleus turning out to be a more suitable charm in direction of the middle making the radius smaller. A smaller radius signifies that any adverse value outdoors of the atom feels a more suitable charm to the helpful nucleus than it would want to in the different case. an same concept applies as you bypass up the periodic table. As you bypass up a row, a clean orbital is bumped off (making the radius smaller) which ability there's a more suitable charm in direction of the middle, and to that end an more advantageous ability to charm to electrons (electronegativity).

honey cheeks need to learn the difference between DOWN and ACROSS, and you need to learn the difference between a period (row) and group (column)! Metallic character decreases across a period and increases down a group.
