Does your mind have the ability to connect certain events without you consciously knowing?(See Details)?

Question

Like say if a bad event happened when you were younger.(example) Like if your mother like accidentally dropped a bunch of glass by you or something and the last thing you saw was like , idk, the color red. could that cause you to basically hate that color because your mind is kinda in a sense going back to that day. Even though you may not be having a flashback.


I know it is kinda unclear but try to answer the best you can!

Though I'm not an expert, I think this does occur, though I'm pretty sure the event would have to be either pretty serious or repetitive to cause that kind of association. Some women hate men because they were abused by a man when they were younger. Some people fear situations in which they almost died once, or lost a loved one (example: flying in a plane). It's possible to have a subconscious associative fear based on something you don't consciously remember, but I think the phenomenon is somewhat overrated.

Well... the thing is... if you're requiring for us not to "consciously know" about the link, how could we know the source of our fears or prime emotions towards any external event? I mean, we just don't know we have done that connection though we do have it in the first place...

Yeah. It is said that my father used to hit me when I did something exceptionally bad when I was like 2 years old. I don't even remember any of that, but I'm always instinctively shy around him, and I've been like that even before I learned this.
