well if your school age, find some acting classes. there are acting and preforming arts type things through my school. After a few sessions try out for some community theater. You will probably be able to find other events and workshops throught that. Keep working at plays and classes. You may be able to get private lessons. for theater you might also want to take dance and singing lessons. If you become really good, you will probably be able to find talent agency auditions and if you get a talent agent you will be able to get some commercials and maybe even parts in movies.

good luck and remember it all starts with those acting classes!

You have to take classes. Either in school or college or from a private teacher. You'll also need to decide whether or not you want to be a film or stage actress, since the styles are very different and this will play a part in who you will need to study with. There are some really great books out there, I'd really recommend reading "Acting is Everything" by Judy Kerr, it tells you positively everything about promoting yourself and working as an actress, and as for the craft of acting, I'd say read "The Intent to Live" by Larry Moss, he's a fantastic acting coach and has worked with some of the best actors in the world, like Helen Hunt, Hilary Swank, Jim Carrey, and Leonardo DiCaprio. Good Luck!
