He's actually softened up. It's almost like he and Randy did role reversal in a way.

He's too harsh with some people. There are obviously a lot of mentally challenged or mentally ill people auditioning for this show, and I don't mean that in a bad way... it's just the truth. So with people like that it is almost a good thing that he tells them they are bad without going too far over the line... maybe they will get a reality check and it will be easier than speading more years chasing a dream they will never catch.

But there is also nothing better than watching him crush the soul of some cocky *** that thinks he's god's gift to music and sucks...

No, he isn't being harsh to the American Idol contestants. He is only being truthful and some of those people are horrible singers. I can't believe that some of those people actually believe that they can sing.

I'm not certain how much of it is part of his act and how much is a spillover from his real personality. But that is the act. People tune in at least in part to watch him verbally massacre the wretched.

Besides, did you see that guy from Seattle who challenged him? I mean Red was asking for it. Under the circumstances Simon was EXTREMELY civil.

Sometimes his comments are out of hand. Most of the people deserve it. Going on a show based around singing when they obviously have no voice. I'm sure there are a few of them who genuinely don't understand that they can't sing but the majority just want TV time and it must get frustrating.

He is so freakin funny. He speaks the truth and makes you laugh at the same time. Idol would not be the same without him.

That's his job. Its the good cop bad cop scenario. Paula is the good cop, Simon is the bad cop and Randy is neutral. If they were all nice it wouldn't be very entertaining.

He's mean to everyone. After six years you still don't see it? Why are people so surprised when he's harsh to people? HELLO.
