My 7 month old is a big boy. 26 inches 23 pounds at his appointment yesterday and now we need a new carseat as he has outgrown his infant one. In prep for this I have spent the last month researching and I have pretty much setteled on the Combi Avatar. It has all the features I want and comes highly recommended. Most importantly it reclines well my family is 2 hours away and we visit frequently. Also we make a 12 hour trip to Ohio atleast once a year to my husband's family. My son has to be reclined pretty well to sleep other than that he's a good sleeper. I have heard though these are pretty bulky seats but I know someone who says she had very little trouble fitting one in a geo prizm. I drive a ford focus (not a hatchback) and there is very lttle rear seat space. Anyone out there have any insight on Combi Avatar carseat??

I don't have that specific car seat but I will tell you that amazingly those car seats fit just about everywhere. I had a dinky neon and I fit my sons in there rear facing, he loved it! Sometimes the store you by it at (we did this when we bought our son his at Target) will let you take it out to your car to make sure it fits, i refused to leave until I knew how it worked and how it fit into my car, they were really nice about it too!! GOOD LUCK!!

I also drive a focus and I have an Eddie Bauer car seat. It is the one that goes from infant to booster seat. It is pretty bulky and I have it in the middle of the back seat and it's pretty much the only thing that you can fit back there.

GO TO BABIES R US. Tell them you want o try the seat out. They will let you take it out to your car and buckle it in and all, and see if it fits okay in your vehicle, BEFORE you buy it. I am not sure if Walmart and Target do that too, but Babies R US does, because I know SEVERAL people who have done that before.

Amazon.com is selling it for $79.99 free shipping and no tax, at least in VA where I live.

Go to a store that has them all on display...actually put your son into it and see how well he fits in it. I had to do the same thing...I settled on the Eddie BAuer seat. Which is a 3 in one.
