Revolutionaries are usually people who lived under oppressed regimes and are fighting to improve living/gov't conditions in their country. Some leaders who are revolutionaries become power hungry and use their power to belittle and control larger groups of people as a revenge for their suffering. Essentially, there is a fine line between revolutionary and terrorist in the end.

Well, tell me. Does someone revolting against a government kill the people they are fighting to "help"? A terrorist uses terror to force their way on an issue, whereas a revolutionary will use legal means, and force, if necessary, to implement a change. There IS a difference, and some people try to use semantics to cover for bullies.

Terrorist: One who utilizes the systematic use of violence and intimidation to achieve political objectives, while disguised as a civilian non-combatant.
Revolutionary: A general definition might be any one who advocates and organises extreme change from the current status-quo i.e. a Revolution. Nelson Mandela is considered a revolutionary.

It's a fine line. Both fight for a cause they believe in, but revolutionaries usually aim for a radical change in their own governmental system, where terrorists provoke intimidation through their violence which is usually aimed at innocent people. Many revolutionaries in history can be considered noble in their fight for change, but never a terrorist.

One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. Revolutionaries fall somewhere in there as well.
It all depends on perspective. If the Red Russians had lost the civil war following the Russian Revolution then they would have been remembered as terrorists by the White Russian government rather than heroic revolutionaries by the Soviet government that eventually did take over.
Whoever wins gets to write the history books.

A terrorist fights because they feel to cause harm to other people or animals because of their proudness of their religion or just beacuse their hatred of others. A revolutionary fights because they want to gain power whether it be militray, political, or social power or equality. Mostly revolutionaries fight because their government is poorly run or corrupt and the revolutionaries set out to fix this.

The individual will see themselves as a 'revolutionary'. The establishment will see them as insurrectionists/subversives. If they use the implements of terror - as in random bombing against the general populace, they are terrorists. When history is written, as it usually has 20/20 hindsight, and the distance of time, such random monstrosity will be seen for what it is - the murder and mutilation of the Innocent.
